Aim of Topical session on Geophysical Fronts and Eddies
Jets, currents and vortices play an important dynamical role in a wide variety of geophysical flows.
Such structures are generally subject to tthe effects of rotation and/or stratification and therefore
they differ radically from classical non-rotating flows.
Under this framework, the instability of these structures and their non-linear interactions often
govern the dynamical evolution of the flow at both local and global scales.
This topical session intends to bring together researchers from various communities,
from fundamental fluid mechanics to atmospheric and oceanic sciences.
